For all practical purposes
most of the traditional Churches cater to one of two doctrines.
I will attempt to discuss some teachings that come from both theories . Not all points fall under these theories but none the less are wrong teachings coming out of both churches. Some of the points this covers is.
1- once saved
Let us first discuss once saved always saved. This truly comes from Calvinism. Have you ever made a study of the book of Galatians? In this book Paul has started a church in Galatia. He then has traveled to other places in the region to deliver the Gospel of Christ. Then Jews came in behind Paul to turn the Church to the law of Moses, at least to the law of circumcision . Do you realize this was saying you had to be eligible for salvation, and that could be accomplished by the act of circumcision. The church then fell for it and became circumcised. When Paul heard of this he wrote a letter to the Church which we have today in the book of Galatians. Let us look at Galatians Chapter 1 :6.
Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel.
Paul is saying they have removed them selves from God the father who had called them to repentance. Think about this statement. You can't be removed from something you were never in. They had to be saved before they turned to works. He continues the letter with statements such as these.
Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Gal 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
Gal 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Pretty strong statements huh? Ye have fallen from grace. Let us ask ourselves, what is grace? The grace of God is the forgiveness of sins. If I can no longer be forgiven by the act of Christ Jesus dying for me, the only alternative is the law, and we know, no one was ever able to keep the law except Jesus. Remember, these people were once saved. Then there are other verses such as this.
Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
These are the very words of Christ himself. If I give up and not continue to endure, what happens? There are many such scriptures in the New Testament.
those who would say if I should fall away I was never saved to start
with. To those people I say " get a real life".
